Frequently Asked Questions

At Affinity Treatment Centers, we want you to be as comfortable as possible in your decision to place yourself in our care, and we’re happy to answer any questions you have. Take a look below at some of our frequently asked questions, and if you have more, please feel free to contact us.

How many residents live at Affinity Treatment Centers?

We have up to six residents in our treatment centers at any given time. We maintain a small staff-to-patient ratio to help us provide a more personalized level of care. Unlike other treatment facilities, our staff remains on-site 24 hours a day.

How long can I expect to be in treatment?

The length of stay for a patient in our residential treatment programs is dependent on the needs of each individual. Residents in short-term treatment are typically in our care between one and three months, but can go longer. Long-term treatment is available for individuals who need an extended continuum of care. All residents are welcome to stay at Affinity Treatment Centers for as long as is necessary for them to learn the skills and coping strategies needed to live independently.

What happens after residential treatment?

After a patient is discharged from residential treatment, the most appropriate “step down” is a continuation of therapy and support through our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Individuals enrolled in IOP attend outpatient therapy at Affinity Treatment Centers three to four times a week as they readjust to their daily environments at home, work, or school. Patients remain in IOP for as long as is necessary to learn the tools they need for living successfully on their own.

What should I bring with me?

We recommend that patients in our residential treatment programs bring one week’s worth of clothing, athletic shoes, swimwear, an alarm clock, and a warm jacket. Residents are also permitted to bring their personal computers and iPods. Things to leave at home include cell phones, belts, sharp objects, and anything else that could be considered harmful to the patient’s progress.

Will insurance cover my treatment?

Affinity Treatment Centers is an in-network provider for most major insurance providers. It’s very likely your insurance will cover all of the costs associated with our treatment programs. But because each plan is unique, it’s important to contact our billing department as soon as possible for pre-authorization and/or explanation of benefits. We’ll work directly with your insurance company to make sure you receive maximum coverage during your stay.

Are residents allowed to bring their pets?

Only service animals with proper documentation are permitted at Affinity Treatment Centers. However, one of our alternative treatment programs includes animal therapy, where residents have the opportunity to care for and interact with dogs.
